J8:11

Ministry with our 6th – 12th grade disciples

The Gospel According to John ch 8 verse 11 happens at the end of a story that tells of the Pharisees testing Jesus with a woman accused of adultery. She stands alone in front of a crowd ready to execute her for her crime…but Jesus challenges them by inviting the sinless person to be the first one to throw the first rock. The crowd disperses. Jesus, alone with the woman, offer these words to her. “Neither do I condemn you. Go, and from now on, don’t sin anymore.” (CEB) Our youth group is built around this idea that there is no condemnation, we are only seeking to encounter Jesus. From that encounter only, lives are changed.

Our youth are welcome at all of our ministries, especially worship.

On Wednesdays during the school year, we gather for J8:11. We begin with a community meal at 6:30pm that we share with our children’s ministry, K4C. Then we go to small groups for 5th-8th graders at 7:00pm. At 7:30 we gather in our main space on the upper level for worship geared toward the youth. Then our high school students gather to study the Bible until 8:30pm.

Our Refuge praise team is primarily middle school and high school students. If you have a passion for music, we encourage you to meet Ben Colbert, our team leader.
